Turning Weight Loss into Cards: The 52-Week Journey
Here is the master plan for my upcoming year-long project combining my passion for TCG, growing sharpetcg.com, and taking control of my health.
The Core Concept
For the next 52 weeks, I am embarking on a dual journey: building a premier Pokémon card collection while documenting a complete physical transformation.
Instead of just talking about the TCG market or showing off card show hauls, every step of my fitness journey will directly tie into my card-collecting budget. Fitness goal achievements will translate into TCG rewards, creating a gamified, high-stakes project spanning an entire year.
How the Reward System Works
To keep the journey engaging and build a real portfolio of cards over time, I’ve established a strict set of rules to tie weight loss directly to card collecting:
- The Baseline: For every 1 lb lost, I earn a £20 budget to buy a card. Lose 4 lbs in a week? That’s a £80 card addition to the collection.
- The Penalty Rule: To keep the stakes real, progress isn't just a one-way street. If I gain weight during a weekly weigh-in, £20 is deducted from the following week's budget.
- Milestone Grails: At key weight loss milestones (1 stone lost), specific "Chase Cards" can be purchased in addition to the bugdet earned from losing weight that specific week.
- The Weight Loss Portfolio: Every card purchased through this fund will be tracked separately from general inventory, allowing us to watch the financial value of the "Weight Loss Collection" grow alongside physical progress.
The Content Strategy: The 1-Year Documentary
Rather than releasing weekly updates immediately, this entire journey is being filmed quietly behind the scenes over the full 52-week period.
Why the 1-Year Vault?
Documenting for a full year before releasing allows for the creation of a feature-length transformation documentary. You will get to experience an entire year’s worth of card shows, shop visits, TCG market shifts, and dramatic physical changes packed into a high-production, cinematic documented story.
